When is the Best Time to Visit Hilton Head?

Since the pandemic, people have pretty much returned to their normal routine and have started to travel again. Hilton Head has become one of the most popular vacation destinations in the US. Due to its pristine white beaches and upscale feel, people from around the world flock to the not-so-tiny town year-round. If you are wondering when the best time is to visit Hilton Head, this is a list of seasonal bests that are a sure bet for fun!

Spring Break

Spring break has traditionally been one of the best times to hit the beach, and it remains so. Unlike other touristy and crowded vacation spots, however, Hilton Head isn’t overcome by spring breakers, college parties, and enormous crowds. Spring break in Hilton Head has the perfect weather to enjoy the area – not too hot, not too cold. It also has a family-friendly atmosphere that makes it the perfect place for your spring break vacation plans.

Seafood Festival

When you’re near the beach it is almost sacrilegious not to partake in seafood. Hilton Head holds the Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival annually. Local and world-renowned chefs show off their skills with wine tastings, bonfires, southern-style barbecue, and cocktail creations. The best part of the experience is the local wildlife and wonderful beaches. Vacationers should come to the seafood and stay for the fun.

The Heritage Golf Tournament

The Masters is a world-famous tournament that is held in early spring, and the Heritage Golf Tournament traditionally follows it the next week. Held at the prestigious Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort, it is famed for having the best courses. Originally held in November starting back in 1972, the event was moved to April in 1983. It is one of the most cherished golf events in the United States.

Wingfest

Who doesn’t love wings? Wingfest is a casual outdoor festival that showcases local restaurants’ stab at being named the best wings in town. It isn’t just about wings, however; the Wingfest has grown in popularity on Hilton Head Island and now includes kids’ activities, local brews and cocktails, and good fun for the entire family. Held in March, spring is in the air and so is the warmth that the spring brings.

Harbour Town Fall Festival

The Harbour Town Fall Festival is an event that includes sidewalk sales, bands, and a day of fun for everyone. Held at The Sea Pines Resort, the whole family will be entertained with waterspouts, tours, and boat rides, and there is even a classic car show to enjoy.

Shelter Cove Pumpkin Fest

Fall is an excellent time to escape the doldrums of the daily grind, and what better to celebrate your time away than by attending the Shelter Cover Pumpkin Fest? The Fest is held in October and it has a costume contest for the kids, a petting zoo, music, and carnival games. It is a day event that is sure to please everyone – mostly for younger kids and families, but there is a little something to entertain everyone. It’s the perfect way to ring in the Halloween season by the beach this fall.

Oyster Festival

One of the best parts of being by the ocean is oysters. Hilton Head does oysters like nowhere else. If oysters aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other choices. The Oyster Festival also has live music and entertainment, a kid’s fun zone, and local artisans’ work. Don’t want to miss football during the November season? No worries, they also have a Sports Lounge where you can take a break and marshmallows to roast when the sun starts to go down.

The Winter Wonderland Festival is a Great Time to Visit Hilton Head

Why drudge through the cold, ice, and snow when you can visit Santa beachside? The Winter Wonderland Festival offers photos of Santa and your little ones and food for everyone, ranging from pizza to hot dogs. Held at Shelter Cove Towne Centre, the entire complex is lit up just like a winter wonderland. It is a great way to check “greet Santa” off of your list and make the entire family happy in the interim.
