Harbour Town Lighthouse

The Sandbox is a place where kids can learn by playing. With 11 hands-on exhibits, kids can partake in educational activities with peers. Services are offered for children under 8 who want to play or do crafts. Memberships are offered, but if you want to visit for only a few hours with a day pass during a hot or rainy day, you can do that too.

Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park

A wooded park with rich history exhibits, an observation deck, picnic area, and beach access. A sign reads “In 1862, after Hilton Head’s fall to Union forces in 1861, this town, planned for the area’s former slaves and named for General Ormsby M. Mitchel, began.” Look at informative exhibits titled “The Bateau,” “Tool Shed,” “Net Casting,” “the Praise House,” and “Bench by the Road.”

This is Hilton Head’s only distillery on the island. Sit inside and taste original rums and whiskeys with flavors ranging from coconut, banana, espresso, peach, butterscotch, and honeysuckle. Also, try nearby vodkas and gins for a diversified tasting experience through cocktails or flights.

Shelter Cove Community Park

A city gathering spot with places to shop, view shows, partake of festivals, and eat at restaurants. Also in the area is a green space for sports and fitness. View sunsets while eating a dinner picnic. Do note though, parking fills up quick!

Gregg Russell Harbour Town Playground

A fun and cute tree house for parents and kids alike to climb. In addition, there’s a playground and sculpted sea creatures for children to play on. The playground is named after the musician Gregg Russell who played for audiences under Harbour Town’s Liberty Oak for 40 years.
